There had been common denominators with recently hacked government websites, they are all running or using outdated 3rd party applications such as Joomla and WordPress.
With this, we highly recommend upgrading to the latest version as they contain security patches/fixes. It is also best to delete/remove plugins, components or modules that are not used as they pose as security holes for hackers to exploit.
